Assistant Coach Travis Burgdolf
Bio
Coach Travis Burgdolf is a highly effective leader with over 25 years of experience coaching and teaching basketball. Coach Burgdolf played on a Top 25 nationally ranked high school team for Hall of Fame Coach Bill Chumbler (Kentucky and Illinois HOF). Although he did have some college interest in playing basketball, he instead opted to pursue a career in the military.
He often shares that it wound up being one of the best decisions of his life. While in the military, he was able to continue playing basketball at a highly competitive level, receive leadership training, begin coaching, and complete his engineering degree. Basketball was a constant presence offering him an opportunity to coach and mentor young men during downtime.
As his son was now old enough to play sports, he began pouring into the grassroots level of basketball. He began coaching his own recreation and travel teams before joining up with other organizations. His passion and knowledge of the sport became quickly recognized and highly sought after. However, it was not until the opportunity to coach alongside Mike G. Jones III at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes did he consider leaving grassroots and focusing on high school basketball. After an impressive 5-year run, gaining national recognition, winning a state title, several conference titles and getting to see several former players now in college, he joins Jones at Dematha.

He came from Episcopal High School in Houston, Texas in 2018. He also has 5 kids, whose ages range from 6 to 21 and his wife, Crystal, is in the Air Force. We welcome Coach Summa to the DeMatha Basketball Coaching Staff.
Assistant Coach Jeffrey Eaton
Bio
Coach Jeffrey Eaton was born and raised in Prince George’s county and has been involved with coaching basketball in the area for 10 plus years. Coaching experience includes a mixture of youth basketball with the Bowie Broncos organization, basketball camps and clinics throughout the United States as well as international camps, and high school coaching.
Coaching is a great gift and a massive responsibility. It is a gift because very few get to say that they get the opportunity to do exactly what they love to do. It is a massive responsibility because in one way or another you will have an impact on a young person’s life. I truly hope I can give them one positive piece of advice that they can use for the rest of their lives and most importantly the court.
